This is what I needed to see. When I saw this film, I saw my friends, my family and myself in it. Knowing this movie was created by people around my age makes me feel so inspired. In tough times like these, these film remind me to have hope and keep shooting for the stars
Amazing use of media as a medium. Incorporation of analogue video with modern social mediums used as a story telling device added for a unique, beautiful, dynamic voice that stands out. The dream and memory sequences beautifully edited. Reads like the beginning of a legend💖💫🦋

Jackie Shawn is a passionate storyteller and visual creative with a vision to showcase the beautiful, layered identities of her community. Currently pursuing her Master of Fine Arts in TV & Film Direction at DePaul University, Jackie brings a wealth of experience to the screen. With a self-designed Bachelor’s degree in Creative Production & Interdisciplinary Arts from the University of Oklahoma, she has worn many hats in the industry—Director, Producer, Actor, Writer, and Production Designer.
Her work is driven by a commitment to uplifting underrepresented voices and exploring stories through unique perspectives. Inspired by female beauty, the power of social media, and the impact of authentic storytelling, Jackie continues to merge her love for film with her passion for art direction, music, and content creation.
Jackie embodies Issa Rae’s mantra: “I found that every time I asked permission, the answer tended to be no, so I had to make my own yesses.”
Through mentorship, collaboration, and connection, Jackie is eager to keep building community while creating stories that matter.
